As the temperatures begin to dip (ever so slowly) my thoughts turn to fall shoes and tweed jackets.

But this year it's two in one, tweed shoes.

Plus, secretly, I really love disco music and I have the perfect silky pleated skirt to twirl around in on the dance floor while wearing them.

What to Wear to Impress a Yeti

Listening to my single friends I have sympathy for people in the dating game.  It sounds really difficult to be single these days.  But I'm here to make things easier.

Fixing a Cold Shoulder

Tired of receiving the cold shoulder from certain icy magazine editrixes, several designers have taken to outerwear to help fix the chilly problem.

Sonia Rykiel tried it.

Rebecca Minkoff tried it.

Liska tried... something?

And even Burberry is trying to warm up some shoulders.

And if these attempts don't pan out, the designers behind the fashion houses can take comfort knowing that they've dressed up the fashion illuminati to look just like those old mechanical toy monkeys that played cymbals.

A decent trade-off if you ask me!

Breaking the Law, Breaking the Law

It's the day after Labor Day.  Let's talk white shoes!

Now, to be fair, I don't wear white shoes after Labor Day.  HOWEVER, I don't own any white shoes so that's hardly a valid point.  Dirt is attracted me, so white is really out of my sartorial repertoire.

That doesn't mean I don't enjoy breaking a few fussy rules now and then, so here we go, a round up of lovely white shoes for winter.

When it comes to the minimalist dressing currently touted by all the fall fashion magazines, Jil Sander is credited in large part with being ahead of the trend.  These shoes from Jil Sander are absolutely au courant.

For a little bit more pizazz, try a pair of platform wedges from Theyskens' Theory.

If you're less about minimal dressing and more about the menswear style then a pair of white heeled loafers is the perfect answer this fall.  Imagine how lovely they'd look peeking out of a pair of gray herringbone trousers.

In addition to fitting the menswear criteria these (slightly off) white loafers from Miss Rossi from Sergio Rossi also have a fantastic heel shape.

You can't do autumn and winter without a pair of fantastic boots.

I love the strap detailing on this pair of Aldo Brue' boots.

And of course, another on trend choice would be these lace booties from Alice + Olivia.

So, there we have it.  Plenty of white options to buck out-of-date fashion rules.

No heels for Katie.  Yesterday and today it's been Converse all the way.  And plenty of R.I.C.E.

But I Love Them!

I don't wear slingbacks, they always slide down.  I typically don't like peep toes that much (I'm too lazy for the kind of pedicure maintenance they require).  But somehow, I see these, and I melt.  It's like when you fall for a guy that's all wrong for you.
